Not only people choose the best in mascara and eyeliner.. to me, eyebrow is a MUST before heading out.. without ma eyebrows, I look like a retarded standard six kid!
Here's my review on something I've used and tested.
Before I having my current thick eyebrows, I was having those thin thin snakey eyebrows which was crafted by my beautician during my secondary schools. I was like a... *no words to describe what I looked like*.. Anyhow, I asked my mother one day whether should I continue to have that brow because a lot of plucking and shaving was required to maintain that shape because it was super curvy archy and sharp, she told me I was still young, that style was meant for older woman who has lesser eyebrow hairs. "You're still young, I don't even get it at first like why are you having such brows anyway. Thick eyebrows are so much better looking." THANK YOU MUMMY for letting me know after having such thin eyebrows for so many years.
Ever since, I've started to keep my eyebrow hairs after it started growing back. Because I was still new to makeup and no knowledge on how to best shape my eyebrows, I'd always go to Empro Mid Valley to have their stylish shape for me. Their handwork are the best I've seen.
One must understand that there's no perfect eyebrows, unless your Cara D., even hers are not equally systematic! Just almost 99% to perfect. So, I have a perfect left with a slightly crooked right, a eyebrow pencil is a must purchase!
There are several eyebrow pencil that I've used before and I'll start with the first wand that I started using while waiting for the hairs to grow back.
Its a basic beyond basic. Non waterproof or smudge proof. So you have to be careful with it. Best part is that it can be wash off easily with normal face cleanser, no makeup remover it needed. The pencil was good enough until I met a new love later on.
3D applicator and its waterproof bro! Smudge proof too! And at an very affordable price compared to other high end pencils!!! You can get both of them from SASA. I've heard that Empro Pencils are great as well as they are specialise in eyebrows but before I could reach Empro which is the next store, my luck was there when I walked into SASA for B'liv masks. Ever since, I've been using that cause I'm so lazy to try a new brand and ended up throwing the pencil aside wasting my money. By the way, So Jenn was using it as well, she mentioned in her Vlog that that was the only pencil that is usable for her. LOL. I'm used brown for both CyberColors if you're interested to know.
It came down to one big day when I twist the damn applicator, no lead was coming out... Wait?! WHAT?! FINISH!!!!????? WHAT THE F***???? You've got to be kidding me man! What am I gonna do? How can I work without ma brows and SASA doesn't open till the mall is open weih! It's 830am and I'm still stuck in the jam...WITHOUT an eyebrow pencil!!! T.T
A girl has to has wide imagination... I pulled out my Naked Basics (By the way, they're so great for lifetime save and 24/7 use), pick the dark brown (Faint color) and start drawing! The outcome was unbelievable if you know how to tone it with the lighter brown (Naked 2), too bad I don't own a picture of it. HAHAHA. It's a palette of eye shadows if you're unfamiliar and this is how it looks like.
I was rather busy in getting a pencil replacement cause there's never ending work for accounts. Until I was given the time to get it at the nearest outlet, it was OUT OF STOCK! Best prank I've had in years. First you're out of lead, then you're out of time, after that you're out of stock! What's next, plants decided to stop producing oxygen??
So I went to my trusted cosmetic shop, since they had never failed me before (although I always dropby to get my skincare only). They're quite famous in eyebrow products and styling too, same performance level with Empro I think. Shu eumura is a Japanese brand and pioneer not only for their oil cleansing products but also for their eyebrow hard formula naginata sword shape pencil for ultra precision! But I opt for for the eyebrow ink, because it was waterproof and that was enough said. It comes with a brush applicator which was sufficient for necessary precision. The color I used was honey glaze.
I didn't get the famous hard formula pen cause need to go back to their shop (any branch would do) just to shape the pencil when lead is finish, only the residence stylish knows how to shape them. And if you want hassle free, you could choose the sword pencil which is an auto pencil with provided sharpener in the pencil case cover. Just to warn you, the ingredients are slightly different from the hard formula, that's why they are still producing the traditional naginata pencil. The traditional pencil drawing last longer compared to the new product. If you're an outdoor person and always sweating, you should opt for that instead of the automatic pencil.
Don't worry, they still have the naginata shape like the traditional pencil. Make sure you shape them before it goes blunt for precision.
Last month, Shu eumura was giving a one time complimentary 3D eyebrow shaping to everyone, so I give it a try instead of going back go Empro. The outcome was non bad, the stylish was able to guide me through on what's gonna happen in the next 30 minutes. We had a chat while she was doing her job, she said that the eyebrow ink is instead for a base setting use instead of drawing and I should (in my case) use the hard formula pencil since I know how to draw my brows (eyebrow palette are for beginnings or for someone who prefer softer brows).
So, I've purchased it! Unfortunately, the part where it sucks is the shades doesn't last as long as CyberColors or their own brow ink! And it smudges when you accidentally wipe it (well, at least it doesn't make a mess around that area because it doesn't stain). But I still like it cause it's easy to remove and the color is so pretty and super godly natural. I'm using seal brown for this cause I have brown hairs and it's super matching. Maybe I'll try their eyebrow manicure on my next purchase to see whether it sets and prevent from smudging. By the way, this pencil only works on your brow cause our face produce a natural oil more compared to our hands, if you were to test on your hand, no color will shades unless your hand is oily.
There was a Black card sales the other day in Sephora and I noticed a few products which is quite good as in waterproof and smudgeproof. They're ka-Brow, goof proof and brow zings. If you want hassle free, get the goof proof cause it's an automatic pencil. ka-Brow comes in a pot with brush applicator while brow zings is like a palette for basic users. Oh ya, I did tried two particular brands before, a no no for Dior snow series eyebrow pencil and also Marc Jacobs Brow Wow defining eyebrow pencil. Hurts like shit and no color was able to shade on my face! Get them when you have the chance!
